Fernando Lourens (15) is a young classical piano talent who stands out for his exceptional musicality and impressive achievements. At the age of five, he started piano lessons with Christa Korsten, followed by nearly five years of private lessons with Hülya Keser. Since 2023, Fernando has been studying piano at the Sweelinck Academy, the national Young Talent program at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, under the guidance of Robert Kulek. Alongside his musical education, Fernando also attends the high school Gymnasium Haganum in The Hague. Fernando regularly performs at festivals and concerts, bringing the classical repertoire to life with remarkable depth, refinement and passion.
Fernando won Second Prize at the National Finals of Prinses Christina Concours 2026. He won earlier several other rewards including the Grand Prize and First Prize in his age category at the Jong Talent Concours Maassluis, First Prize at De Muziekwedstrijd. He also reached the finals of the Royal Concertgebouw Competition, semi-final of Holland's Got Talent and has received prizes at international competitions.
In 2024, Fernando was named as a “Young Hero (Jonge Held)” on the Dutch television program Podium Klassiek (NPO 2) and was selected for the prestigious All of Bach Young Talent Project of the Netherlands Bach Society, for which he made harpsichord recordings. Fernando is driven by a strong passion for the classical repertoire, he continues to refine his artistry with dedication, inspired by renowned pianists and a wide-ranging musical curiosity.

Op zijn vijfde kreeg hij les van Christa Korsten, gevolgd door bijna vijf jaar privélessen bij Hülya Keser. Sinds 2023, hij studeert aan de Sweelinck Academie, de Jong Talent nationale opleiding van het Conservatorium van Amsterdam, waar hij les krijgt van Robert Kulek. Naast zijn muzikale opleiding volgt Fernando onderwijs aan het Gymnasium Haganum in Den Haag. Fernando treedt regelmatig op tijdens festivals en concerten en brengt het klassieke repertoire met grote diepgang, verfijning en passie tot leven.
Fernando heeft de Tweede Prijs gewonnen tijdens de Nationale Finale van het Prinses Christina Concours 2026. Daarnaast behaalde hij eerder diverse andere onderscheidingen, waaronder de Hoofdprijs en de Eerste Prijs bij het Jong Talent Concours Maassluis, evenals de Eerste Prijs bij De Muziekwedstrijd. Ook bereikte hij de finale van het Koninklijk Concertgebouw Concours, de halve finale van Holland's Got Talent en won Fernando prijzen bij internationale concoursen.
In 2024 werd Fernando uitgeroepen tot “Jonge Held” in het televisieprogramma Podium Klassiek op NPO 2. Tevens werd hij geselecteerd voor het prestigieuze All of Bach Young Talent Project van de Nederlandse Bachvereniging, waarvoor hij klavecimbelopnames maakte. Fernando is gedreven door een grote passie voor het klassieke repertoire blijft hij zich met toewijding artistiek ontwikkelen, geïnspireerd door vooraanstaande pianisten en een brede muzikale nieuwsgierigheid.

Fernando has already built an impressive and steadily growing repertoire, performing works by composers such as Mozart, Chopin, Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann, Bach, Debussy, and many others. His musical curiosity motivates him to explore an exceptionally broad range of styles - from the refined elegance and structural clarity of the Classical era to the emotional intensity, poetic lyricism, and technical brilliance of the Romantic repertoire.
Each composer opens a new world of expression. As Fernando studies, interprets, and performs these works, he is constantly expanding his understanding of musical language — each new composition he learns presents both a challenge and an opportunity to grow. Through this ongoing journey, Fernando is developing not only as a pianist, but as a storyteller and interpreter of the beautiful classical music.
